BlackTop Enduro™ is an engineered, 100% recycled asphalt-block pavement built for exactly what wrecks ordinary yards: point loads, slow turning traffic, freeze-thaw, and the need to dig it up and put it back without a scar. Container and equipment yards, laydown areas, depots, and access roads — paved once, repaired in place, built for the long haul.
A working yard is the harshest test a pavement faces — concentrated, often stationary loads, constant turning, and zero tolerance for downtime. The usual surfaces all fail in their own way.
Ruts and shoves under outriggers, jacks, and slow-turning wheels, and softens in summer heat. Repairs mean torn-out patches that never match and fail again at the seams.
Cracks and spalls under impact and frost, and a single failed slab means sawcutting, demolition, and a re-pour that has to cure before you can use it.
Dust that contaminates product and stormwater, potholes and washboard, ruts that swallow trailer jacks, and loose stone that gets thrown by tires and tracked into everything — plus regrading that never ends.
An interlocking segmental surface spreads concentrated loads across the base instead of focusing them in one spot. Laid in 90° herringbone — the only pattern that resists turning and braking forces — and held by a positive edge restraint that stops lateral creep, the blocks behave as one locked, load-bearing field. For the heaviest duty, we build in 80 mm and 100 mm.
And here's what no poured surface can do: when you need to reach a buried line or repair a soft spot, lift the blocks, do the work, and reinstate the same blocks — no patch, no cold joint, no scar. The area is back in service in no time at all, with no repave crew and nothing left to cure. Your operations keep moving.
Interlocking segmental pavements have carried heavy industrial and vehicular loads for decades — in ports, on airport aprons, and on downtown streets. The closest public benchmark to your conditions is North Bay, Ontario, where segmental pavers carried about 8,000 vehicles a day, including delivery trucks and buses, through 40 years of freeze-thaw, road salt, and snowplows with zero plow damage recorded.
BlackTop Enduro™ shares that same interlocking, segmental structure — and we're validating our own blocks through an independent, $450,000 Emissions Reduction Alberta research project with NAIT, SAIT, and Red Deer Polytechnic, covering structural and weathering performance.
In fairness: those decades-long references are concrete pavers, not BlackTop Enduro, and we have not yet tested our blocks in highly abrasive settings such as steel-tracked equipment — so we don't make claims there. What carries over is the structural, load-spreading behaviour of a segmental surface. See the case study & independent reports →
Asphalt buys a low price up front and then charges you for it: a full repave roughly every 20 years, each one taking the surface out of service. BlackTop Enduro is built once for a long design life, and every repair is localized and rapidly done. No full-surface shutdowns, no curing delays — and the 100% recycled content supports your sustainability and ESG reporting.
